Media Training, Media Training Lessons
In today’s digital world, what you say in front of a camera or microphone, in print or on-line it is more important than ever before to ensure that you are in control of the message. Remember whatever you say could end up anywhere. We give you the tools to say it right the first time!
Company spokespeople need to know what to say, when to say it and how to say. Whether it is crisis management or a press conference announcing a new product line, you must learn to communicate effectively in an organized, factual, and effective manner.
At our media training courses you will learn how to develop your key messages to ensure you are consistently in control. Our goal is to help avoid aggravated situations where you require damage control.
Media Training Course
This program can be taught in a one-day or two-day format. It is offered at our downtown Toronto location or can be scheduled at your office. This program will be created as a public workshop in the future.
NOTE: the agenda is the essentially the same for the one and two day media training classes. In the two day media training course the content covered is more in-depth and there is more time for people to practice the techniques.
Media Training Program Agenda
The objective of the program is to help you be more strategic, in a disciplined way to improve your media coverage and respond to inquiries. You will learn how to:
There will be practice (notice the verb – meaning ‘action’) interviews on camera and critiques for each participant.
TIP: When a journalist calls you, do not take the interview immediately to ensure that you can prepare your thoughts and be in control. We suggest your ask to schedule it to the following morning or even in an half hour. Spontaneous phone interviews can turn into a media nightmare for your organization, and you personally.
As someone who enjoys speaking in public, I don't enjoy the nervousness and anxiety that often accompanies it. Earl shared great strategies with our group to help cope with these anxieties including breathing exercises, posture tips and the keys to writing a successful speech.I would recommend Earl's public speaking workshop to anyone looking to expand their public speaking skills - whether you're a novice or an expert - Earl has the tools for you!
